Your Chance

,

Near closing time

they find each other

on repeat

in quiet aisles of fluorescent light

and mopped floor scented air.

A fantasy difficult to resist,

what is this becomes what if

As lingering smiles

hint possibilities,

of a new love blueprint.

Yet,

self-doubt lurks…

She walks away

courage cursed.

Returning

after believing in herself,

to quiet aisles of fluorescent light

and mopped floor scented air,

missing her chance.

He wasn’t there.

Those fleeting moments… I’ve known plenty of them, and missed too many. I love the imagery of the fluorescent lights and freshly mopped floors (reminds me of some jobs I had in my youth). This is a wonderful piece of poetry, and it resonates with me. Nicely done, Kirsten. 🙂

I really don’t mean to disrupt you while you’re reading/looking but I just have to say that I’m beside myself over here watching these likes. It’s so exciting, like being in the same room but invisible at the same time. Ok, I’ll leave you be
